Who do you think is the primary and secondary target audience for The Woman in Black? Why?
I think the primary target audience for The Woman in Black is a mix of teenagers to young adults. The use of Daniel Radcliffe as the protagonist could have also been used to draw in the Harry Potter fanbase, hence the rating of 12, enabling a younger audience to watch. The majority of people who watch these sorts of films are young people, so including these factors may incentivise them to watch. The secondary audience would be mature adults in the 25-35 age range. This is suggested through the different marketing channels they used, mainly in newspapers, which are read more often by the older generations.

How was The Woman in Black marketed?
The Woman in Black was marketed through numerous different channels. It harnessed the power of social media to be able to market itself effectively directly to its target audience. The YouTube homepage was completely redesigned, and Facebook and Twitter pages were created to post news directly to people's newsfeeds. They also used a lot of 'old media' too, placing large adverts in many of the UK's most popular newspapers, using radio ads, and the release of teaser trailers.

Do you think the Marketing Materials for the film were appropriate? Why?
